This 2001 EVO 7 GSR is, as you can gather from these photographs immaculate inside and out. Finished in Satellite Silver Metallic, with unmarked graphite and blue trim, the vehicle has done 63000miles from new with a BIMTA mileage certificate. She has a no-accident history with original paintwork in lovely condition and has sports seats, front strut brace, 17 alloy wheels, anti yaw control, anti lock brakes, electric windows, central locking, 4pot Brembo brakes and the new active centre differential. Momo air bag steering wheel, passenger air bag, power assisted steering, air conditioning, climate control, rear wiper, tinted glass, CD player, leather gear knob and Thatcham Category 1 alarm system with remote locking are all included. The Mitsubishi Lancer EVO 7.... Due to a change in the World Rally Championship rules Mitsubishis next version of the Evolution was, in fact a completely new car. Based on the Japanese domestic market Cedia saloon, the VII was a much larger car than the IV, V, and VI and had a far less radical, more understated appearance. Despite its increase in size the EVO VII was only 40KG heavier than the outgoing VI and as torque was again increased performance was similar. Produced from March 2001 January 2003, the he most significant alteration technically was the addition of an active centre differential. This has three times the capacity of the previously used viscous coupling differential to transfer the power from a spinning wheel to a one with traction. This greatly improved the cars grip under load. The active differential has 3 preset conditions that allow the driver to quickly set up the car for tarmac, gravel or snow. Further improvements to the turbo as well as a larger capacity intercooler and a triple jet water spray in place of the double allowed the torque to increase again but remarkably power was again given as 280BHP, though few believed this output to be accurate! Again 17 alloys were fitted and Brembo 17 discs with 4 pot Brembo callipers front while 16 discs and 2 pot Brembos were used on the rear. Other changes included slight revisions to the suspension to optimize the cars greater wheelbase and track. As well as the active centre diff the Evolution 7 has masses of hi-technology system to make it one of the quickest saloons on the road. Obviously it has a complex 4 wheel drive system, a 280 BHP turbocharged, intercooled 2ltr engine with now triple jet intercooler water spray, 4 wheel anti-lock brakes, quick power assisted steering, vented disc both at the front and the rear, lightweight alloy wheels, and powerful front lights. Inside the car has Momo sports steering wheel with drivers & passenger air bag, climate control and air conditioning, electric windows, central locking, remote controlled retractable door mirrors, and superb sports seats to keep you comfortable and in control when on the edge. The new shell gives a much more spacious interior which also feels a lot lighter, probably due to the increased glazed area The performance of the EVO VII is phenomenal with 0-60 time of around 4.5 seconds and top speeds of 150 MPH. Service costs are reasonable and the car is reliable when used with some respect. It is very easy and light to drive and can makes a great everyday car with the 4 doors and huge boot making the car totally practical.
