This is a stunning STi Impreza and is fresh into the UK with no UK owners. The car has covered only 52000 miles from new and is standard throughout other than a Fujitsubo sports exhaust system and after market front grill. Subaru Impreza....... In late 2000, the Impreza line received a complete update. The chassis received a 148% increase in torsional stiffness, putting it into the highest band when safety tested, although this did add almost 200kg to its empty weight. To distinguish between this version and the earlier classic Impreza, these cars are referred to by enthusiasts as GDBs, the classic being dubbed GC8. The Sti 2 door Coupe body shape was dropped and the car offered only as a 4 door saloon and a 5 door estate The GDB was superbly well equipped with power assisted steering, electric windows, central locking, adjustable steering column, remote retracting mirrors, tinted glass, front fog lights, air conditioning with climate control, alloy wheels, rear spoiler, drivers and passenger air bag, and superb sports seats. In 2001 the new Japanese STi ( Unofficially the Version 7) produced around 315 BHP, although the stated power was 280BHP because of the gentlemans agreement between the Japanese car manufacturers and the government. The wheels are 17 inch in diameter. The car uses 4 pot/2 pot Brembo front and rear brakes and was given a much tougher 6 speed close ratio transmission. The DCCD differential was updated so that it could work effectively with ABS brakes. The GDB Impreza is truly phenomenal in terms of outright performance, handling and practicality. Its top speed of around 160 MPH and 0-60 times of mid 4 seconds tell half the story, however to understand full the capability of the car its overtaking ability as well as its general handling most be sampled from inside the car. The Japanese version is a more overtly sporting car than the later STi Type UK with more power and stiffer lower suspension, though this does come at a cost, as insurance companies recognize the performance differential and this is reflected in the premiums.
